Navtej Kohli Scholarship Program Available To India Engineering Students
The Navtej Kohli Scholarship Program has again announced it is accepting applications from Indian engineering students wishing to complete advanced studies to pursue a master’s degree in engineering. The program is a privately funded initiative to aid technical students in reaching their educational goals. This year the Navtej Kohli Scholarship Program will grant financial aid in the amount of Rs. 1 Lakh to one outstanding student. The generous scholarship provides for the student to study for their advanced education anywhere in India. Scholarship applications are presently restricted to the Delhi/NCR region and limited to technical graduates that have obtained a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer engineering or computer science. Candidates are required to hold a first class degree in B. Tech, BE or BCA from an accredited college or university.
Note, candidates in their final year of a degree course may apply for the scholarship, however the selection will be based on final year results. Prior to his death on October 17, 1975, Sh. P. Kohli was a determined freedom fighter and well-spoken visionary. The scholarship program is the result of the far-reaching vision of Sh. P. Kohli who asked his teenage son to carry out his goal of assisting India’s poor that were denied educational opportunities. Sh. P. Kohli had a dream of improving India’s society by offsetting the educational expenses of impoverished yet worthy young people. Established by his son, Navtej Kohli in 2011, the Navtej Kohli Scholarship Program currently plans to grant one scholarship each year for the region surrounding Delhi. The program has future plans to broaden the scope of the effort by expanding the program to 5 students each year. Plans are also in place for extending the program to other India states. Presently the scholarship application process is open to Delhi/NCR region students only. To be considered for the scholarship, Indian students applying must be at least 22 years old and no more than 28 years old at the time of the application.
Evaluation of candidates for the Navtej Kohli Scholarship is based on a wide spectrum of parameters including, but not limited to, academic records, intellectual merit, commitment to service, technical acumen, character, handicaps or disabilities, income, family dependency and educational disadvantage. After considering these vital factors, the most needy and deserving student will be awarded the scholarship.
